We, along with some of our neighbors, organized a party for our neighborhood. It was a huge success and we hope to continue the tradition throughout the summer! We had a great time!

Water fun in the neighborhood
We have been blessed with wonderful neighbors and the kids love to play together. The weather has been AMAZING so we have been spending a lot of time in the front yard riding bikes, scooters, playing with sidewalk chalk, etc. Today, we decided to pull out the sprinklers!! Thankfully, our neighbor had a couple so we set them up in our yards and the kids had a blast running from sprinkler to sprinkler. We took a break for a popsicle. PERFECT summer afternoon!! I am wondering if I am going to get anything done this summer…..we may be spending A LOT of time at the pool this year! 🙂
Blake Graduates from Preschool
Today Blake graduated from his 3-yr old preschool class. Where did the time go?!? His Nonnie, Uncle Todd, Aunt Deb and cousins joined us for a short program at Little Elks Preschool (held at South Elkhorn Christian Church). Right before the program, Blake’s teacher came and asked for my help because Blake did not want to get into his costume for the program. Oh, no…not a good sign! I went back to talk to him but he was pretty insistent. I told them to proceed as planned and hoped he would agree to participate. But, as his class came filing in, one of the helpers was carrying him in and he was refusing to join in on the fun. 🙁 So, Ms. Kim held him in her lap the whole program as he sat and watched all his classmates perform the songs they had prepared. When his name was called to come and receive his certificate, he refused.
I must say, at first, I was really frustrated inside but trying to hold it together. Then, as the program progressed and I thought of what my face of disappointment must look like to him, I changed my outlook and decided that I would do my best to be an encouragement to him. You pick your battles, right? I am so thankful for this experience with our son. Hopefully, I can be mindful of his fear and give him opportunities to overcome his fear. I want to teach him to find confidence in the Lord when called to do difficult things! After all, I still struggle with the same fear, at times! 🙂 May the Lord give me wisdom to help my child conquer his fear at an early age!
We are so proud of Blake! He is growing up so fast. He loves to do “school” at home with Elise and has learned a lot during his first year of preschool. Next year, he will be joining his sister in a Classical Conversations homeschool group in Frankfort. We will miss Little Elks Preschool but are confident this is the next step we are to take in our children’s education. Thankful for the Lord’s guidance in our lives!
Here are some pics from Blake’s big day! We went to celebrate at Mellow Mushroom afterwards….Blake’s pick! 🙂
kure beach – day eight
Our last day on the beach…..boo! We soaked up as much sun as we could in denial that it was our last day. We all headed inside late afternoon to get ready for the annual family picture. We were able to get some good shots of the family, thankfully. We decided to order pizza for dinner in efforts to allow us to soak up as much sun as possible. It was yummy! After dinner, we all started getting packed up for the ride home on Saturday.
Goodbye, beach! Til next time…….
